Read the following passage and answer the questions from 21 to 27.
Last summer, on a warm afternoon, two friends, Liam and Chloe, decided to explore the old attic of Liam’s grandparents’ house. The air upstairs was thick with the smell of old wood and dust, and the only light came from a single sunbeam cutting through a grimy window. It was a dusty, forgotten place, filled with silent furniture covered in white sheets. Tucked away in a dark corner, they found a heavy, iron-latched wooden chest. Inside, beneath a pile of faded lace, Chloe found a small, leather-bound diary. Its cover was worn and the initials 'E.V.' were faintly visible in gold. Liam's grandmother later explained that the diary belonged to Eleanor Vance, a distant relative who had lived in the house over a hundred years ago, during the early 1900s.
As they carefully turned the fragile, yellowed pages, they discovered Eleanor's hidden world. She wrote about her daily life, which consisted of chores and family gatherings that she often found uninteresting. But between these entries, her true passion came alive. Her biggest dream was to become a pilot, an ambition so unusual for a woman at that time that she never dared to speak of it. She wrote about the challenges, noting how her father believed a woman's place was strictly in the home. Secretly, she would stay up late at night, reading borrowed books about aeroplanes and the first brave aviators. She even described her attempts to build a small model plane from scraps of wood and cloth in the barn. In one powerful entry, she wrote, "People say a woman's place is in the home, but I believe my place is in the sky, soaring with the birds."
Completely fascinated, Liam and Chloe brought the diary downstairs and told Liam's grandmother about their discovery. She listened intently, her eyes filling with tears as they read some of Eleanor's words aloud. She was deeply surprised and emotional. She told them she had never known about Eleanor’s secret dream, and that it felt like finding a lost piece of their family's soul. For her, the diary was not just a collection of old papers; it was a powerful message from the past, showing the courage of a young woman who dared to be different. Inspired by her story, the friends decided to create a special presentation for their history class. They planned not only to share excerpts from the diary but also to research other pioneering female pilots from that era to show just how remarkable Eleanor's dream really was.
