My name is Chloe, and I’m a university student. I live in a very unusual home. It’s not a house or an apartment; it’s a houseboat! My houseboat is on a quiet canal in the north of the city. It’s quite small, but it’s very cosy and I love it. There is one main room which is my living room and bedroom combined. I have a small sofa that turns into a bed at night. There’s also a tiny kitchen area with a cooker and a fridge. The bathroom is very small, but it has everything I need: a toilet, a washbasin, and a shower. There are a few other houseboats nearby, and we all know each other. It feels like a small, friendly village on the water. We sometimes have barbecues together on the canal bank when the weather is nice.

My daily routine is quite simple. I usually get up at around 7:30 a.m. I always have a cup of tea and look out of the window at the ducks swimming by on the water. It’s a very peaceful way to start the day. My classes start at 10 a.m., so I leave home at about 9 a.m. and walk to the university. It takes about an hour, but I really enjoy the walk. My route takes me through a beautiful park where I often see people walking their dogs, which is much nicer than taking a crowded bus. In the evenings, I often read books or watch films on my laptop. I hardly ever watch TV because I don’t have one! On weekends, I like to go cycling along the canal paths or visit the local market to buy fresh food. Life is simple here, but I wouldn't change it.

At the moment, however, my routine is a bit different. I’m studying for my final exams, so I am spending a lot of time at the library. Living on a houseboat is great, but there is one main disadvantage: in winter, it gets very cold, and there isn't much space for friends when they visit. Still, for me, the advantages are much bigger than the disadvantages.
