Reading passage 1 (21-26): My Friend, Leo

My best friend is a boy named Leo, and he is probably the most interesting person I know. We've been friends since we were children because our parents are also good friends. Leo is quite tall for his age and has curly, dark hair and very friendly green eyes. He's not the kind of person who worries about fashion; you'll usually see him in a simple T-shirt and jeans. What makes Leo special is his personality. He is an incredibly calm and patient person. I've never seen him get angry, even when things go wrong. For example, if our computer game crashes, I get annoyed, but Leo just smiles and says, "Well, if we restart it, we'll have another chance to play." He's also very reliable. If he says he will help you with something, you know he will definitely do it. Last month, I was struggling with my maths homework, and he stayed up late to help me sort it out, even though he had his own project to finish. Besides that, Leo is a great listener. Whenever I have a problem, I can talk to him for hours, and he always gives me thoughtful advice. He has a great sense of humour too, and he often makes up funny stories to cheer me up when I'm feeling down. His ability to invent silly characters on the spot is truly a gift, and it's impossible to stay sad around him.

Last year, Leo decided to take up a new hobby: photography. He bought an old camera from a second-hand shop and started taking pictures of everything around our town. At first, his photos weren't very good, but he didn't give up. He read books and watched videos to learn more. Now, his pictures are amazing. He has a real talent for capturing beautiful moments. Just last week, he showed me a photo of an old man sitting on a park bench, and the expression on the man's face told a whole story. Leo explains that good photography requires patience, something he has a lot of. He can wait for hours just for the perfect light. He says that if he had more free time, he would travel the world and take photos of different cultures. He hopes to set up his own photography studio one day. I really admire his dedication. Unless something unexpected happens, I'm sure he will become a famous photographer in the future. He has taught me that if you are passionate about something, you should never stop learning and always be patient with your progress.
