A Memorable School Trip
Last year, my class went on a school trip to the National History Museum, an event we had all been looking forward to for weeks. I remember feeling incredibly excited the night before because I had only seen pictures of museums in books and had never visited a real one. We set off from school early in the morning on a bright yellow bus. The journey itself was fun; the sun was shining brightly through the windows, and my friends and I were singing our favorite songs at the top of our lungs. It felt like a real adventure was beginning.
When we finally arrived, our history teacher, the cheerful Mr. Davison, gathered us at the grand entrance. He was our guide for the day. He led us through huge halls filled with ancient artifacts. He was passionately explaining the story behind an ancient Egyptian sword, describing the battles it had seen, when suddenly a loud, piercing alarm began to ring throughout the building. For a moment, everyone froze. I felt a bit scared, and some of my classmates were looking around nervously. However, the museum staff were very calm and professional. They quickly informed us that it was just a routine fire alarm test and that there was no danger. We all felt a great sense of relief.
After the tour of the main exhibits, we had our lunch in the museum’s beautiful garden. We sat on the grass under a large tree, sharing sandwiches and snacks. It was a perfect, sunny day. The best part of the trip for me, however, was the afternoon workshop. We were taken to a special room where an artist taught us how to make pottery using traditional methods, just like people did hundreds of years ago. My hands were covered in wet clay as I tried to shape a small bowl on the potter's wheel. It was much harder than it looked! My final creation was a small, funny-looking bowl, not perfect at all. I didn't pass the 'pottery skill test' with a high score, but I had so much fun and learned to appreciate the skill of ancient craftsmen. It was the best school trip ever, and I still keep that little bowl on my desk as a souvenir to remember the wonderful day.
